eg: Kangxi ruled the Qing Dynasty for more than 60 years.

eg: The court ruled the man was guilty.

3. 用直尺等画（线）；画（直线）

eg: The teacher asked the student to rule a line on the paper.

老师让这个学生在纸上画一条直线。

4. 支配；控制；操纵

eg: The old man was ruled by his pursuit of success in his whole life.

三、猜一猜常用短语里的rule是什么意思？

1. a rule of thumb 凭感觉做事的方法; 单凭经验的方法

eg: You can’t do it according to a rule of thumb.

你不能凭经验来做这件事。

2. play by the rules按规则玩游戏；处事公正诚实；循规蹈矩

eg: John is an honest man. He always plays by the rules.
