1.知会；通知；通告

eg: I am informed that the meeting will be put off till the day after tomorrow.

我收到通知会议将推迟到后天。

2.了解；熟悉

eg: We will give you plenty of time to inform yourself thoroughly of the subject.

我们会给你足够的时间让你来熟悉这个主题。

3.对…有影响

eg: We have to admit that technology informs every aspect of our lives.

我们必须承认科技影响了我们生活的各个方面。

二、inform后面的介词主要分4种

1. inform sb. about sth. 将…告知(某人)

eg: I’m terribly sorry that I forgot to inform him about the place of meeting.

非常抱歉，我忘了通知他会议的地点了。

2.inform sb. of sth. 将…告知(某人)

eg: Could you please inform our clients of this change?

你能把这个变动告知我们的客户吗？

3.inform on sb. 告发、检举某人

eg: We can’t believe that he would inform on his brother.

我们不敢相信他竟然举报了他的亲弟弟。

4.inform against sb. 告发、检举某人

eg: He was determined to inform against his boss at risk of losing his job.

他决心冒着失去工作的风险去举报他的老板。

三、表示“通知”的inform, notify和advise有什么区别

1.inform

普通用词，指提供有关资料或信息,也可指直接告知某事。

eg: There is no need to inform him of my arrival.

没有必要告诉他我来了。

2.notify

正式用语，指的是用书面形式正式告知某人某事，比inform要更加官方。

eg: Qualified people will be notified by email.

合格的人会接到邮件通知。

3.advise

常用于商业活动,既可指书面通知,也可指口头告知或电话通知,不一定正式。

eg: Please advise us if there is any change of the meeting.

如果会议有什么变动的话，请告知我们。
