2. 关乎…的事情（n.）

eg: She resigned not because of money but over a matter of principle.

她辞职不是因为钱，而是因为原则问题。

3.物质（n.）

eg: As a scientist, he was crazy about studying the properties of matter.

作为一个科学家，他迷恋研究物质的属性。

4. （某种）东西，物品，材料（n.）

eg: The oil is improved by adding plenty of organic matter.

通过增加大量的有机肥料，土质改善了。

5. 事关紧要；要紧；有重大影响（v.）

1. as a matter of fact 事实上；其实；说真的

eg: He tried everything to help us, as a matter of fact.

2. be another/a different matter 另外一回事；又是一回事；另当别论

eg: I know what you said makes sense, but whether you can persuade her is another matter.

三、“你怎么了”的N种实用表达

1.What's wrong with you? 

最常见的用法，“你怎么了？”更多的是在询问对方是不是不舒服或者是为什么情绪不对。

2.What's the matter with you? 

跟上一句经常互换使用，用法同理。

3.What's the trouble with you?

trouble是麻烦的意思。这里表示“你是不是遇到什么麻烦啦？”

4. What's going on?

go on表示“发生，进行”的意思。询问“是不是发生了什么”。

5. What happened to you？

“你发生了什么？”暗示已经有不好的事情发生了。

6. What's up? 

最口语化的表达，相当于我们常说的“咋啦”。

7. What's come over you?

注意这里缩写的完整形式是what has。come over意为“突然感到”。

8.Is anything the matter?

相当于Is there anything wrong? 注意这里的the不能省略。
